Die-cut delight

I've not had much inspiration lately when it comes to card making as I've too many other things going through my mind ... daughter visiting, booking holiday and such like ... but on a recent trip around blog land I came across a challenge to make a card from die-cuts and as I'm getting a bit of a collection of dies now, I thought I should see what I could come up with.

I loosely based the design on a sketch from Willow Sketchie

I used a hammered effect base card with a doiley and pearls from my stash. The dies - Cheery Lynn DL112 butterflies, Marianne Creatables LR0147 bird cage and Marianne Creatables LR0111 flower - are all cut from pearlescent card with some silver gems for the centre of the flowers.

Christmas in the wild

Well summer is still here and I'm enjoying every minute of it. Mind you I've already heard a few people moaning that it's too hot and we could do with a drop of rain!!

Today I've got another Christmas card to show you. This is another decoupage sheet from my Joanna Sheen 'Giordano Christmas Creations' CD. I know cutting out can be a bit fiddly and time consuming but these images look fabulous when finished. The backing paper is from Bearly Mine Designs and the sentiment was probably from a magazine.

I shall enter this in the folllowing challenges

Willow Sketchie challenge 'Sketch and/or theme Christmas in July' (I went for the theme)

Hugs & Kisses and my very first Promarker card

Hi to you lovely people on this gorgous sunny summers day..... and the forecast is for more of the same over the weekend. Hope you're as lucky where you are.

A few weeks ago I got to a Hobbycraft store and they had Promarkers on sale so I bought 2 sets (skin accents and pastels) and then I was lucky enough to win a set of the summer 2012 colours. I have always used pencil crayons but yesterday decided to have a go with these pens. As I only have a total of 15 different colours I found it a bit limiting and also I found there is a lot more colour than I'm used to, as with pencils I keep building up the colour and get a much softer finish. But I was reasonably pleased with my first attempt and so decided to make it into a card. I suppose I shall just have to buy a few more different colours and just keep practicing!!

I followed the sketch from Dies to Die For

I've used a Mo Manning image coloured with Promarkers - although I have no idea which colours I used as I just kept picking them up and trying them out.... and I finished it off by dusting the edges with blue chalk. The background papers are from Raspberry Road Designs and I used Marianne Design Creatables dies LR0201 for the border. LR0156 for the leaves, LR0111 for the flowers and Craftable CR1216 flower border. The ribbon, gold peel-off sentiment and gems in the centre of the flowers are from my stash.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Marianne's Design Divas challenge 'Anything Goes' (my 2nd entry)

Thanks for popping by and if you have any tips on using Promarkers or if you think there are any other pens easier to use I'd love to know.

Kitten cuddles

I've been in a bit of a rush making this card as it's for a challenge theme of  'Circles' which ends today and I should just be in time.

The image is Lili of the Valley which I coloured with pencils. I used the largest die from Marianne Creatable LR0180 for the base and LR0129 to 'frame' the image. For the flowers I used the petals from LR0189 and stamens from LR0111. The swirl was also from LR0111 and the butterflies are a small punch (make unknown as it was from the £ shop). I finished it off with a dusting of yellow chalk on the white card, a silver peel-off sentiment and some pearls from my stash.

Elegant Christmas Tilda

Hi to you all and thanks for dropping by. I'm beginning to get on a bit of a roll now with christmas cards and have another one to show you today.

For this card I have followed a sketch

I coloured Tilda with pencil crayons and used gold & red gel pens for the wings, headband and to highlight the stitching on her dress. The background paper is from Bearly Mine Designs and the embossed cards I was given last year and all I know is that it was done with an embossing folder but not the make. I used Memory Box die 98146 Frostyville Border for the snowflake border and the patterned border that Tilda is sitting on was cut from an old christmas card. (I knew it would come in useful one day!!) Then I added a couple of red gems from my stash to finish it off.

Have a Mice Christmas

My card today is made using one of the super cute Joanna Sheen House Mouse decoupage. The background paper is some that probably came with a magazine (I just can't remember as it's so long ago). I had every intention of adding a few embellishments but the image is so sweet that I decided they weren't necessary and just added the sentiment that was part of the decoupage sheet.

Going For Gold with Cheery Lynn and Bearly Mine

Hello to you all and a special hello to my lovely followers. Thanks for taking the time to drop by.

Today I wanted to make something for the Cheery Lynn challenge which is Gold and/or Silver and as I just could not think of a card other than silver / gold wedding anniversary or christmas I decided to go for a gift box & tag instead.
What made things even harder was the fact that I have no paper or card in either silver or gold, so after a search I found this gorgous freebie paper from Bearly Mine Designs here and the mushrooms looked golden. I printed straight on to card and used a template to cut out a pillow box. For the tag I cut out some white card and also printed off some more of the same Bearly Mine paper and edged both pieces with a gold calligrapher pen.
Next step was to colour some die-cuts with the pen. I used Cheery Lynn B117 fanciful flourish and DL112 butterfly. I had already coloured a Tilda image in pencil crayons and I couldn't resist cutting her out and sitting her on the mushroom. (and yes I did manage to cut off one of her curly locks!) The ribbon, lace, pearls and gold peel-off corner are from my stash. The flowers and butterfly charm were in a bag of candy which I was lucky enough to win a couple of weeks ago from Donna - see my side bar for a link to her weekly blog candy.

At the seaside

I can't believe it's a week since my last post and I've only just got around to making this card for the Totally Gorjuss sketch challenge as well as a few others following a seaside / summer theme.

I've used an image and background paper from my new 'Faye Whittaker collection' CD from Joanna Sheen. There are so many wonderful images on it to remind us of childhood and days when there was sunshine at summertime! The lace, doiley and pearls are from my stash and the sentiment is left over from a decoupage sheet, but can't remember which one.

White on White Christmas

Here's another quick christmas card make as I'm trying out some new dies.

I've used Marianne Creatable LR0111 to make the base card . Then I used Marianne Creatables LR0136 christmas tree and LR0178 sleigh cut in a slightly different shade of white card. Finally I added a peel off sentiment.
I was trying out the white on white theme again (for a couple of challenges) but I think it would look better with a coloured base card.

Red, White and Blue Christmas

Well it may have been a nice day yesterday but we're certainly getting our share of rain today here in the East Midlands. Maybe things will change next week when Wimbledon has finished, fingers crossed!

Anyways I have made yet another christmas card. The image I've used is from a very old card making CD called DECAdry Express Christmas which I have managed to get working with Windows7. I used Cheery Lynn frame die FRM141 to cut a window frame and layered the image and frame onto a hammer effect base card. I made the window sill from Cheery Lynn border die B176 and then just added a sentiment. A quick and easy christmas card if you've got a lot to make.

An Easel Card

Hi to you all and thanks for dropping by. The sun is out and the washing is on the line so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a rain free day. I hope it's as good where you are.

The challenge over at Card Crafters Circle this week is for a 'construction card' so here is an easel card.
I've had the paper for so long that I have no idea where it came from. The decoupage is Country Companions, the sentiment was a leftover from some House Mouse decoupage, the stick on flowers are leftovers from a Forever Friends peel-off sheet and the flowers are some old ones I'm trying to use up. So this is a bit of a quick put together job.

Sweet and Simple Tilda

Okay so the weather isn't great today but things aren't so bad - the postie came this morning with some new crafting goodies for me. Faye Whittaker CDs, stamp and dies.

Of course I had to use one of the new dies on the card I've made today - it's the Memory Box Prim Poppy and I can see I shall be using this one a lot. I have used my favourite Tilda stamp coloured with pencil crayons and white gelly roll pen for the bunny tail. The paper is Wild Rose Studio Butterfly Garden which I just got free with a magazine. The banner is hand cut with a peel off sentiment. the ribbon and metal charm are from my stash. I finished it all off with distress chalks.

My first christmas card

Well, so much for summer, or the lack of it. I blame my Dad 'cause as soon as his water butts run dry he wants rain - he won't use the hose pipe. I'm sure he keeps doing a rain dance when we're not looking!

I've got my first christmas card of the year to show you today. The decoupage sheet is from the Joanna Sheen & Giordano Christmas Creations CD. If you wanted to buy just one Christmas CD I'd recommend this as it has such fantastic images that would appeal to so many people. Some bits of the decoupage are a little fiddly, but well worth it.
The background paper and sentiment were free with a magazine last year and I don't remember who they're by. The flower was made with petals cut out by hand and a small punched flower and gold gem added to the centre.
