A Masculine Card for Paper Crafting Journey

Good morning (or nearly afternoon) to you all. Today is the new challenge day over at Paper Crafting Journey and this fortnight we are sponsored by Di's Digi Downloads who are giving the lucky winner a $10 gift certificate. The theme is 'masculine cards' so great timing if you're making father's day cards as I have.
My Dad doesn't bother about cards but as I still like to make him one I always keep them CAS. I  went for a kraft card base and a LOTV die-cut topper which you can't buy now, but the image is still available as a stamp. The rest is from my stash.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Lili of the Valley Ideas to Inspire challenge 'Boy oh Boy'
Papertake Weekly challenge 'Sketchie free for all' (I used this weeks sketch 79)

CRAFT challenge 'Father's Day / Male'
Creative Craft challenge 'For the Fellas'

Sugar Nellie Rosie in Lilac and Lavender

Hello and thanks for dropping by to have a look at what I've been up to.
I decided to give those little mice a rest today and have gone for a Sugar Nellie stamp. This little darling is called Rosie and you can get her in rubber or digi. I coloured her with Promarkers and added some touches of Sakura glitter and glaze pens to the wings, halo and flower . The backing paper is a freebie from Bearly Mine Designs and is one of my favourites as it looks so delicate. I embossed the purple card with Spellbinders Impressabilities 'Flowers' and the dies I used are Memory Box 'Fairytale Flower Border' and Cheery Lynn 'Miniature Rose'. Then all I did was to add some ribbon and pearls from my stash.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Sparkles Monthly challenge 'Monochromatic'
Sketchy Colours challenge 'Sketch'

Hello to you all and thanks for dropping by again. Also I'd like to welcome my new followers and to say a big thank you for taking the time to look at my creations.
I have another of those gorgous mice to show you today. This little fella having a nice relaxing afternoon is from the House Mouse 'Food and Drink 2' decoupage collection and I've kept to the CAS style but gone for a rectangular card just for a change. The blue checked paper was free with a magazine and the silver peel-off sentiment and pearls are from my stash. Not sure if this is just a little too CAS and may end up adding a little something in the bottom half of the card at a later date - what do you think?

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Saturated Canary Butterfly Baby with the PCJ challenge

Good Morning to you all and a special hello to my new follower Shirley-Anne. Thank you so much for choosing to follow my blog.
Today sees the start of a new challenge at the Paper Crafting Journey and this fortnight we have a wonderful sponsor in the form of the very talented Krista Smith who is offering the winner 2 fabulous Saturated Canary digis of their choice. The theme of the challenge is a photo inspiration and we were also very lucky to be able to choose a Saturated Canary digi to work with. As soon as I saw this photo all I could think of was gorgous spring blossoms and a new year and new life - so that was my inspiration. I have lots of favourite colour combos (often depending on my mood) but I think my favourite must be pink and white from the cherry and apple blossoms. Anyway this is the card I made

and this is the photo inspiration

Here's what I used
Image ~ Saturated Canary 'Butterfly Baby'
Papers ~ Pink Petticoat 'Vintage Rose Collection'
Dies ~ Memory Box 'Twirling Vine Frame'  &  QuicKutz 'Nesting Frames 9'
Sentiment Stamp ~ free with a magazine

Ho, Ho, Ho With Jingle Bells

I'm a bit rushed with this post as I decided about a quarter of an hour ago to make a card for the Mo Manning challenge which ends in just over an hour !! I've had this fabulous image coloured up with Promarkers for a while now and thought it would be perfect for a CAS design, so I layered it onto some metallic card and then straight onto a hammered effect base card. Then I finished it off with a gold peel-off sentiment. I think it would have looked better with a sentiment stamped straight onto the card but I couldnt find anything suitable.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Mo Manning DP2 challenge 'Clean and Simple with a Mo Image'
Moving Along With The Times challenge 'Clean and Simple'
Sweet Stampin' challenge 'Clean and Simple'
I Love Promarkers challenge 'Simply Does It'

Anyone For Tea ?

Well what a day it's been here in the East Midlands, one minute the sun is shining and next it's pouring with rain. Still at least my Dad's happy as his water butts are starting to fill up - in fact I wouldn't be surprised if it was him doing a rain dance !!
Anyway it was a perfect excuse to stay indoors and make a card. I've used a Mo Manning  digi called 'Teacup Fairy' coloured with Promarkers and added some Stickles on her wings. The background paper (which you can hardly see) is called 'Butterfly Garden' by Wild Rose Studio. I used Spellbinders Impressabilities 'Flowers' to emboss the white card which I then matted onto some cream hammered card and I used a cake paper doiley under the image. The dies are all Cheery Lynn  - the flowers are made using miniature rose and the greenery is bits cut from a fanciful flourish. Finally I added a silver peel-off sentiment and a couple of tiny punched butterflies which I dabbed with Stickles. Unfortunatley the lighting is poor and the sparkles aren't showing up on the photo.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Bearly Mine challenge 'Sketch Time'
Cheery Lynn Designs challenge 'Lots of Layers'
Simon Says Stamp challenge 'Things With Wings'
Passion For Promarkers challenge 'Birthdays'
Stempelgarten challenge ' Birthday'

Deep Ocean challenge 'Let's Sparkle' (my 2nd entry)
Papertake Weekly challenge 'Anything Goes' (my 2nd entry)

Thanks for dropping by and I hope you have a great weekend.

Dashing Through The Snow

Well here I am, back again with my second card of the day and it's yet another christmas card.
This time I've used one of the LOTV toppers which are no longer available. Fortunately I have quite a few of these sheets as none of the new art pads appear to feature christmas images yet. I used Lifestyle Crafts QuicKutz nesting frames 9 to make the easel base card and I can really recommend these dies for use with the Grand Calibur. There are 8 dies in the set ranging from 1.3" x 1.5" to 4.8" x 5.8" so fabulous for making shaped cards, sentiment tags and cutting out images. The spotty paper is another free with a magazine and the other dies I used are Memory Box 'elegant scrollwork' and Marianne Creatables LR0111. I added Stickles to the topper and flower and the gems, sentiment and christmas wreath are all from my stash.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Charisma Cardz challenge 'Shaped Cards'
Winter Wonderland challenge 'Dashing Through The Snow'
Deep Ocean challenge 'Let's Sparkle'
Dream Valley challenge 'No Squares Allowed'
Christmas At Sweet Stampin' challenge 'Winter Sports' (sledging)
Sparkles Christmas challenge 'Favourite Festive Colours' (red, white & green)
Totally Gorjuss challenge 'Anything Goes With Swirls' (my 2nd entry)

My Mum's Craft Shop challenge 'Spots or Stripes' (my 2nd entry)
Papertake Weekly challenge 'Anything Goes with an option of using 2 stamps' (I didn't go for the option on this one)

Thanks for dropping by and I hope you like what you've seen.

Flying Home For Christmas

Just a quick post from me with my first card of the day on this dull wet Wednesday.
It's another 'no embellies' style christmas card with more of those cute little mice having some fun. This decoupage and sentiment is from the House Mouse 'Wishes For Christmas' collection and the paper is from a pile I have which were free with magazines (they are reducing slowly!!)

Relaxing With 'A Nice Cup Of Tea'

I can't believe it - it's a bank holiday and the sun is shining. Hope it's the same where you are.
The card I have to show you today is the second one made for my Aunt's 91st birthday this week (here is the first - which will be from my Dad). I have used another of the Joanna Sheen 'House Mouse decoupage sheets from the 'Food and Drink 2' collection. I love this little scene of the little mice and the budgie having a nice soak in the teacups - it reminds me of the song

I like a nice cup of tea in the morning
For to start the day you see
And at half-past eleven
Well my idea of heaven
Is a nice cup of tea
I like a nice cup of tea with my dinner
And a nice cup of tea with my tea
And when it's time for bed
There's a lot to be said
For a nice cup of tea

The green background with the swirls and spots was a 12 x 12 paper bought from Dunelm and the others are by Pink Petticoat. The dies I used are Memory Box Macarena corner, Marianne Creatables LR0180 and LR0157 but my favourite of the three is the the last as I love the 'swirliness' of it with the flowers. The beautiful pearls are from Hobby House (I love the colours of their pearls) and the sparkly ribbon and flowers are from my stash. Finally I added the sentiment and a tiny punched butterfly.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Papertake Weekly challenge 'Sketchie Free For All' (I used sketch no. 66)
Crafty Catz challenge 'Inspired By A Song' (A nice cup of tea)
Totally Gorjuss challenge 'Anything Goes with Swirls'
Songbird challenge 'Truly Scrumptious - food or drink'
J & C Creations challenge 'Nurturing' (Hobby House pearls and Marianne Creatables LR0157 available)
Creative Craft challenge  'All About Animals'
Natalie and Amy's challenge 'Things With Wings' (Memory Box Macarena corner available)
The ABC challenge 'M is for Make it sparkle'
As You Like It challenge 'Favourite Die or Punch' (the swirly flourish)
My Mum's Craft Shop challenge 'Spots or Stripes' (spots on the background paper)

Right I'm off now to have 'a nice cuppa tea' then off to do a bit of shopping. Hope you all enjoy the rest of your long weekend if you are lucky enough to be off work.

Something A Bit Different - Button It Up With Some Krafty Music

Well hello to you all on this lovely sunny bank holiday weekend. I hope you're enjoying yourselves.
I decided to try something different today - well different for me at least - and have a play with some vellum I've had for an absolute age. I bought 2 packs (1 plain & 1 coloured) at least 2 years ago and to be quite honest I had no idea what to do with them, so I decided it was time to play.
I started by printing a TPS digi image and that worked fine so I did a search on google about colouring and it was recommended to colour on the reverse, which I did using Promarkers. The lighter colours didn't show up very well so I used darker shades than I normally would. Then when I put the vellum over a white card base it looked awful so I went for the kraft base card but as it still looked a bit bare I dry embossed a few music notes and added an old button (coloured with Promarkers) tied round with some bakers twine. Finally I added a (poorly) hand written sentiment. So what do you think, and have you any more ideas on how to use vellum?

I shall enter this in the following challenges
The Paper Shelter challenge 'Music Maestro'
A Little Bit Crafty challenge 'Kraft It'
Joanna Sheen challenge 'Music & Lyrics'
Simon Says Stamp challenge 'Happy Mail'
I Love Promarkers challenge 'Put A Button On It'

Thanks for visiting and for taking the time to leave a comment. it's really appreciated.

I decided to make a door hanging for a change and at the same time recycle. The sturdy card box I had was printed green on the inside so worked perfectly for my favourite male colour combo of greens and cream.
