Embossing with Sassy Studio at PCJ

The new challenge at the Paper Crafting Journey starts today and we have a fabulous sponsor Sassy Studio who are offering the lucky winner some of their super digis and believe me when I say you will definitely be spoilt for choice. The theme for this fortnight is 'Emboss It' and this includes both wet and dry embosssing.

We were lucky enough to be able to pick an image to work with and the one I've used is called 'Pina Colada Pin Up Sassy' which I coloured with Promarkers and decoupaged to add extra depth. The papers are Dovecraft 'Back to basics' and I embossed some white card with Diesire Embossalicious 'grande dots' folder. I added a silver peel-off sentiment to a circle to finish off.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Creative Fingers challenge 'Anything goes'
Sister Act challenge 'Anything goes'

Black and White... Just for a change

Inspiration has been sadly lacking since christmas so I decided to try something a bit different today - well different for me anyway - a black and white  card. Normally I would avoid this colour combo like the plague as I always associate it with condolence cards but I'm really pleased I gave it a go and I feel quite happy with what I've done.

I went for a small card and used a digi stamp from A Day For Daisies called 'fall fairy friend'. I left the stamp uncoloured and cut it out with a Marianne Creatables LR0154 tag die. The paper is from the Paper Cellar and the butterflies are Cheery Lynn dies. The thin black ribbon is cut off from a blouse - it's one of those on the inside shoulder that are supposed to wrap around the coathanger to stop it falling off, but I always cut them off as they are perfect for cards.

By the time I came to take the photo the light was not great and the card does look better in real life

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Papertake Weekly challenge 'Bow dies'
Crafty Catz challenge 'Monochrome'

One for the 'Lose It' pile

Hi everyone. Do any of you ever make a crafty purchase and then regret it? That's what I did with this Little Claire 'Ever So Lovely' stamp - I thought it looked so pretty but when it arrived in the post I inked it up, coloured it with Promarkers and then stared blankly at it. For several days after I was still staring blankly at it and then it got put in the cupboard. So there it's been, hiding away for over a year, until my last crafty sort out when I decided that it may work with the small CAS style cards I've been making recently using scraps of leftover papers. The sentiment is from my stash.

I guess the card looks okay but I must admit for some reason this stamp doesn't really work for me. One for the 'lose it' pile I think and anyway it's already been replaced by some LOTV stamps that dropped on the doormat this morning!! (Just had to take advantage of the 3 for £10 sale didn't I?!)

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Sketch Saturday challenge 'Sketch'
Divas By Design challenge 'Anything goes'
Penny Black and More challenge 'Love is in the air'
CAS on Sunday challenge 'Lovely dovey'

Daisy Daisy

Wild Rose Studio have some new stamps out and I couldn't resist buying this one called 'Elsie and Daisies'. For some reason it reminds me of summer and childhood and sitting making daisy chains - I wonder if kids still do that? - so I decided to go for lovely bright cheery colours. I used Promarkers to colour the image and the DP is from my box of loose sheets (so not sure who by) and I used QuicKutz nesting dies to cut them out. I had just enough of the lime green ribbon to make a bow and the daisies are made with a Cheery Lynn miniature rose die and a hole punch. Finally I added the peel-off sentiment to a snippet of card and attached with sticky pads.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Magnoli-licious challenge 'Celebrations'
I Love Promarkers challenge 'Hot colours'
Divas By Design challenge 'Use ribbons'
Cute Card Thursday challenge 'Warm it up'

Sparkles Monthly challenge 'Show us your new stash' (my stamp)

Deep Ocean challenge 'Birthday'

Thanks so much for popping by and I hope you enjoy your evening.

IndigoBlu Favourite

Hi everyone, is it me or are the days speeding up? Everyday I plan to do so much and end up getting very little done. I'm using the shorter days as an excuse but I think it may be me slowing down with age!!

Anyways onto my card which I made using my favourite IndigoBlu stamp called Ella Bella. I had planned on stamping it in pink but the ink I have was just too light so I had to use black instead and brushed the image with pink chalk (unfortunately it doesn't really show up in the photo). The background paper is Hunkydory and the die is Memory Box 'twirling vine frame'. I made the flowers from snippets of paper using Cheery Lynn 'miniature rose' die with punched circle centres and the foliage is from the Memory Box 'fabulous phlox' die. Finally I added a sentiment from the Hobby House.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
IndigoBlu challenge 'Your favourite IndigoBlu stamp of the year'
Pixies Snippets Playground challenge 'week 108 snippets'
Stampin' for the Weekend challenge 'Happy birthday'
Lothian Crafts Online challenge 'Birthday for a female' (my 2nd entry)
Sweet Pea Stampers challenge 'Flower power'
Craft All Day challenge 'Handmade flowers'
Country View challenge 'Monochromatic' (my 2nd entry)

Right I'm off now to try and get some of those housework jobs done before we take my Dad shopping - or maybe I should just go and play with some of those half finished cards. Take care and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Hi everyone. thanks for dropping by.

I've made my first (very quick) christmas card today using a LOTV topper, some paper scraps, a Marianne Creatables LR0129 die-cut, a sentiment left over from some decoupage and a couple of pearls. I love this image as these little dogs are sitting so sweetly waiting for the command to 'go get it'

Vintage / Distressed / Shabby Chic at the PCJ challenge

Time for our first challenge of the year over at the Paper Crafting Journey and this fortnight we have two wonderful sponsors Digistamps4Joy and Digital Delights by Louby Loo. The theme for this challenge is vintage / distressed / shabby chic and I must admit not a style I feel confident with but hey it is a challenge and this is what I came up with.

We were given some fabulous images from DS4J to work with and the one I used is called 'Romany' which I coloured with Promarkers and chalk and layered onto a crochet mat from OneCraftyMama. The papers are My Minds Eye 'Lost & Found' and another that was from my scraps box so not sure where from. From my stash I added pearls and flowers and the die is Memory Box 'Chloe stem'. The sentiment is a leftover from a decoupage sheet and when I accidentally dropped it on the card I found out how strong the glue dots stuck and I mean STUCK, so that's why it's at an angle. I decided to leave it as it doesn't look too bad.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Crafting Musketeers challenge 'Grunge'
Lothian Crafts challenge 'Birthday for a female'
Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper challenge 'Cover your card with patterned paper'
My Craft Creations challenge 'Anything goes'
Moving Along With the Times challenge 'Girly cards'
Natalie and Amy challenge 'One for the girlies'

Thanks for popping by and I do hope you can join in with us at the PCJ challenge and show us your fabulous papercraft creations, but please remember to check the rules.

Gorjuss Girl

Still on track with my new years resolution and I've another card to show you using a stamp I received way back in 2012 from the lovely Caz of Caz's Crafty Snug. What, I can hear you gasp, it's taken you so long to ink it up!! Well sometimes I have the most lovely stamps or images but just can't seem to find the right idea for them, but this stamp is perfect for the small CAS cards I've started making recently. It's a Gorjuss girl called 'flying above it all' which I coloured with Promarkers. The background paper is from my scraps box and I used a Die'sire 'Petite Dots'  folder to emboss the white card. The sentiment is a peel-off attached to a circle and I added a couple of pearls to finish off.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Winter Wonderland challenge 'Monochrome'
Pixies Snippets Playground challenge 'Week 107 snippets'
Without Words challenge 'Spots and/or stripes'
Dream It Up challenge 'Clean  and simple'

Fairy Buttercup

Hi everyone, thanks for popping by and I'd like to extend a very warm welcome to my new followers.

I really am trying to keep my new years resolution about unused crafty stuff and the other day I started looking through all the digis stamps that haven't seen any printer ink. I think the problem with digi images is that when there are sales or new releases they are so easy to buy and download and then just get filed away, which is what happened with the digi I used for this card. This adorable Mo Manning 'buttercup fairy' is from a set of three fairies that I just couldn't resist quite a few months ago, but then christmas got in the way!! So now, coloured with Promarkers, she is the first of the three to make an appearance. The papers are Dovecraft 'Back to basics' and Bearly Mine Designs, the pearls, gems and flowers are from my stash and the die I used is Marianne Creatables LR0157

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Mo's Digital challenge 'Flowers w/a Mo image'
Crafty Sentiments Designs challenge 'Anything goes'
Through The Purple Haze challenge 'Anything goes'
Creative Inspirations challenge 'Blooms & Pearls'
Card Mania challenge 'Anything goes'

Thanks for your visit and a big thank you for all your comments - they are most appreciated.

Wedding Day Wishes

I've made another new year resolution craft-wise which is 'use it or lose it'. Yesterday I spent quite some time just sorting through paper pads and made 3 piles - definitely, maybe, and won't use. I know we crafters tend to hoard the tiniest bits of paper, ribbon etc 'just in case' but I must admit to feeling much happier after discarding the 'won't use' pile and am much more likely to make use of the 'maybe' pile as well as making a little space for some new goodies!!

For this wedding card I've used Memory Box 'Twirling Vine Frame' die with some ribbon twirled around it, then I added flowers made with Cheery Lynn 'Miniature Rose' die and a Dovecraft punch. The base card, Sylvia Zet wedding bears topper, sentiment, heart charm and pearls (the flower centres) are all from the Hobby House.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
The Hobby House challenge 'Ribbons'
Ready-Teddy-Go challenge 'New beginnings'
My Mums Craft Shop challenge 'Love' (my 2nd entry)

Love in a Teacup

Good evening and thanks for dropping by.

My new year resolution to crack on with my usused crafty items before getting any new goodies has already failed and I ended up buying some Tattered Lace christmas dies while out shopping today (well they were in the sale). How are you doing with your resolutions?

I'm also trying to use some decoupage sheets that I've had for a while. This one is from the House Mouse 'food and drink 2' collection and I decided to make a shaped card using QuicKutz nesting frame dies, white card and gold mirri-card. All I added were a couple of flowers and gems to finish it off.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
House Mouse & Friends challenge 'Use silver and/or gold'
Gruffies & Guests challenge 'Here we go with anything goes'
My Mum's Craft Shop challenge 'Love'

Birthday with Millie

The first weekend of 2014 - hope you're enjoying it and are fully recovered from the festivities. I can't believe how quickly the last month has passed and my daughter left to go back home to Australia this morning. It was so lovely to have her with us for christmas but she did say that next time she comes it will be when the weather is warmer!!

Four days into the new year and I've inked up another stamp from my cupboard which was candy that I received from the lovely Paula at A Little Bit Crafty way back in July 2012. I have been feeling very guilty about not having used this before as it is such a sweet image and I think perfect for this small CAS style card. It is called 'Millie with pot' from Wild Rose Studio and I coloured it with Promarkers. I cut out the image and attached with sticky pads onto white card with a circle cut out and Dovecraft Back to Basics paper behind it. Then I added a peel-off sentiment to finish.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Winter Wonderland challenge 'Teddy bears'
ABC challenge 'C is for Colourful'
Craftyhands challenge 'Anything goes'
ALBC challenge 'Celebrate' (my 3rd entry)

Fizzy Moon

Hi everyone and thanks for dropping by. I guess things will be getting back to normal pretty soon with the christmas decorations being put away for another year and easter eggs appearing in the shops. My Dad has already started knitting some lovely chickens for easter and hopefully one will be jumping into my bag to make his escape.

Well day 2 of 2014 and I've actually inked up a Fizzy Moon stamp that I've had since March last year. I coloured it with Promarkers and I'm keeping to a very CAS style using up scraps of Pink Petticoat papers and just adding a peel-off sentiment. I think I shall be making quite a few of this style of small cards - it's perfect for those small stamps and a great way to use up those scraps of pretty papers.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Pixies Snippets Playground challenge 'Week 105 use snippets'
Charisma Cardz challenge 'Birthdays'
Whimsy Stamps challenge 'Party time'
Crafty Sentiments challenge 'Birthdays' (my 2nd entry)

Thanks for your visit today and just to remind you that we're having a DT call over at the PCJ challenge which closes tomorrow but the current challenge is open for another couple of weeks.

Sugar Fairy

Happy New Year to you all

Hope you all had a good time last night and not suffering too much today. Have you made any crafty new year resolutions and more importantly do you think you will keep them? Last January I was determined to use any new / unused crafty items before putting them away in the cupboard, but you've guessed it - and yes I do still have a few lots of unused items. Maybe I shall do better this year!!

Right onto my first card of 2014
This sweet stamp is from Sugar Nellie and is called 'Candy Heart' which I coloured with Promarkers and Sakura glitter pen. The paper is Pink Petticoat and all the pearls are from the Hobby House. I used Marianne Creatable LR0152 and Xcut nesting dies and the sentiment stamp is a magazine freebie.

Sorry about the photo quality but the weather is so dull here today and the lighting is just terrible

I shall enter this in the following challenges
The Sugar Bowl challenge 'Fairies w/a Sugar Nellie image'
Natalie and Amy's challenge 'One for the girlies'
