Something Totally Different

Hi everyone, hope you're having a good weekend.

I've spent the day playing around with some crafty stuff that I haven't used too much and trying out a few ideas. I have quite a few plain vellum sheets so thought I would stamp and diecut some butterflies with Marianne Collectables COL1319 which I then coloured with Promarkers and a Sakura glitter pen. I stuck two butteflies together at the 'body' so that the wings would stand off and be quite see-through.

So what to do with this butterfly? Another rummage in the cupboard produced a Marianne Creatables LR0152 die cut from a piece of pearlescent card and Cheery Lynn fanciful flourish cut from white card and coloured with a gold pen. This was going to be the start of a card but then things took a bit of a twist and I ended up making something totally different and I can blame it all on the rummaging!

I very rarely use big flowers due to the fact that they don't fit in envelopes so when I picked these foam roses out of the tin that's when I headed off in a totally different direction and really started to have a play. I managed to persuade hubby that my need of a 10 inch length of leftover tongue & groove was much greater than his, although he did take some persuading (and I thought I was a hoarder). So what else - the dotty paper, a bit of corrugated packaging, some spidery webby stuff I've had for years all distressed with Tim Holtz 'tattered rose' ink.  The beautiful stick pins were made by Caz of Caz's Crafty Snug and a bit of ribbon, some pearls, buttons and a gold peel-off corner finished it all off.

I can honestly say I have never made anything like this before and I am so pleased with the result. Think I shall have to make another of these as I did happen to spy a few more bits of wood in hubby's shed - just need to find where he hides the key!!

I shall enter this in the following challenges ~

Crafty Cardmakers and More challenge 'No cards and a mixed media winter and/or slap it on'

Butterfly Snippets

Hi everyone and thanks for dropping by. It's the weekend again and we'll be putting the clocks forward here in the UK. I love the lighter nights, don't you ?

After making my last box card instead of putting the leftover papers in the scraps box I decided to make a matching card. So the leftovers are Wild Rose Studio papers, Hobby House pearl flourish and Hunkdory butterfly, with the addition of a pearlescent card base and a sentiment from my stash.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge 'week 117 use snippets' (my 3rd entry)
Butterfly challenge 'Springtime at last use yellow'
Crafty Catz challenge 'Anything goes'
Charisma Cardz challenge 'CAS'

Just wondering if any of you are having problems in following blogs. I've been trying to start following some new blogs and also stop following some old (defunct) ones, but I just keep getting a message to try again later. Has anyone noticed an unusual lack of new followers to their blogs ?

Elisabeth Bell, Paper Crafting Journey and Anything Goes

Good morning all. I'm here today with my DT make for the Paper Crafting Journey challenge. This fortnight the theme is 'anything goes' and our fabulous sponsor is Elisabeth Bell with two gorgous digital stamps for the lucky winner.

I decided to have a go at making a box card which are very popular at the moment. It didn't turn out as good as I'd hoped but unfortunately I hadn't time to start again, so had to go with it.

The adorable Elisabeth Bell image I've used is a stamp that was free with a magazine and I coloured it with Promarkers with the grass and sky coloured with chalks. The papers are Wild Rose Studio 'butterfly garden', the pearl flourishes are Hobby House and the butterflies are Hunkydory. The flowers and fence are all cut from snippets of card with an assortment of dies - Marianne Creatables LR0154 & LR0157, Marianne Craftables CR1214 & CR1216, Memory Box 'spring border' 'chloe stem' & 'fancy blossoms', Dienamics 'picket fence' and finally a Dovecraft 'daisy' punch.

Here are a couple more photos

I shall enter this in the following challenges -
Elisabeth Bell's World challenge 'Pretty pastels'
Daring Cardmakers challenge 'Do Die-licious'
Crafty Catz challenge 'Bling it up'
Pixie's Snippets Playground 'week 117 use snippets' (my 2nd entry)
My Mum's Craft Shop challenge 'Spring / easter' (my 3rd entry)
I Love Promarkers challenge 'Anything goes'
That's Crafty challenge 'Inky antics' (my 2nd entry)
Graph'It Colour challenge 'Springtime pastels' (my 2nd entry)

We have a large tree being cut down in our garden and it's rather noisy with the chainsaw and shredder. No chance of being able to concentrate on anything crafty today so I'm off out for the afternoon. Thanks for visiting and I hope you can join in with the challenge

Another LOTV Christmas

Evening all.

Just a quick post from me tonight to show you another christmas card I've made with one of my pile of LOTV toppers. A very simple design using paper from Wild Rose Studio and some sentiment ribbon from my stash. I (or rather hubby) removed the shanks off some snowflake buttons and I added some Stickles to them before sticking to the image with some strong glue dots.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Winter Wonderland challenge 'Paint the town red'
Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas challenge 'All wrapped up'

Thanks for coming by and I hope you can pop back tomorrow when I will post my DT creation for the Paper Crafting Journey - I'm sure it will be a popular theme this fortnight.

Big Bunch of Flowers

Hi everyone, thanks for popping by to see what I've been up to.

I think this is such an adorable little kitty from LOTV called 'Thomas big bunch of flowers' which I coloured with Promarkers. I've used a pearlescent card base and embossed part of the front with a lovely butterflies & flowers folder that I got free with a magazine. The flowers are made with Marianne Creatables dies from scraps of card (the spriggy bit was cut from a cereal box !!) and I added a sentiment from my stash.

I shall enter this in the following challenges ~
The Cutie Pie challenge 'A cute one for mum'
Creative Card Crew challenge 'Animals'
Passion For Promarkers challenge 'Embossing'
Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge 'week 117 use snippets'

One Layer Card

Hope you're having a good weekend. The weather here is wet so that meant a crafty afternoon and I decided to have a play at something different to try and kick start my inspiration.

I thought I would try my hand at a one layer card using one of my new stamps - Kaisercraft 'Botanical - which I stamped with black Memento ink and lightly coloured the flowers and butterflies with chalks. The sentiment stamp was one I've had for ages and may have been with a magazine but I'm not sure. It's such a temptation to add a piece of ribbon or twine and a few pearls or layer the image on card to give it a frame, but I am determined that this will remain a 'CAS one layer' card even if it does look a little 'naked'.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

CAS on Sunday challenge 'One layer wonder'
That's Crafty challenge 'Inky antics'
Vintage Stamping challenge 'Just for you' (my 2nd entry playing around just for me)

Thanks for popping over and I hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Springtime

My inspiration is still a bit 'hit and miss' so I thought I would go through some of my old stash and see what I could come up with. This rather old but sweet decoupage is from Marianne Design and I thought it would be perfect for an easter / spring card. The papers are from my pile of loose sheets and the pearls. gems, ribbon, bow, lace and flowers are from my stash. The two larger flowers are made with a Marianne Creatables LR0111 die.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Just For Me

I recently received some fabulous goodies from the lovely Pat of Pip's Pastimes (a big thank you Pat) and amongst them was a Crafty Individuals stamp which I used for this card. Also over at Vintage Stamping they have a challenge to have a play around and make something just for yourself so that's what I decided to do. Now to me this stamp cries out vintage / distressed but as this is a style I can't seem to master I decided to have a play and see what I could come up with and also have my first venture with paper piecing.

I stamped the image with black ink and coloured the hair / skin / shoes with Promarkers and used Dovecraft Back to Basics paper to paper piece the dress and for the background. The doiley, gold peel-off corner, ribbon and gems are all from my stash. So this is what I ended up with and okay I know it's not vintage but CAS is more me.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Allsorts challenge 'Pretty in pink'
Stamping Sensations challenge 'Pretty in pink' (my 2nd entry)

Hedgie, Butterflies and All Things Sunny

He everyone, I'm back with a card that has been inspired by all this lovely sunshine we've been having. Hope it's as nice wherever you are.

The stamp is from the Penny Black 'Hello Friend' set and I coloured with the usual Promarkers. I very rarely use pencils for colouring now as I find I can colour an image much quicker with Promarkers and also the finished image looks much better. The orange paper is Prima 'Doodle Deux' collection, the red spotty paper is from my loose sheets pile, and the butterfly, lace and pearls are from my stash.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Penny Black Saturday challenge 'Lace + pearls'
Penny Black and More challenge 'So sweet' (my 3rd entry)
As You Like It challenge 'Favourite colouring medium and why'
Creative Inspirations challenge 'Favourite colour combination' Summery reds and oranges (my 2nd entry)

Thanks for your visit and I hope you enjoy what's left of the weekend.

Photo Inspiration at the Paper Crafting Journey challenge

Morning all and it looks like it's going to be another sunny one so that definitely puts me in a good mood.

The new challenge is starting over at Paper Crafting Journey and this fortnight we have a photo inspiration for you. We have a super new (for us) sponsor Crafty Sentiments Designs who are offering the lucky winner 3 digital images of their choice. So here's the photo we have to inspire you

For my card I used the image 'Hootie, rain rain go away which I coloured with Promarkers and I added a couple of 'googly' eyes to the owl. The paper is one from my loose sheet pile and the sentiment was a freebie I got from the internet (but don't remember where)

Thanks for popping by and I do hope you can come and join in with the challenge.

Christmas Kiss

Some time ago I bought rather a lot of the LOTV die cut toppers and still have a large pile (mostly christmas images) left. I am resisting the temptation to buy any of the art pads until this pile reduces drastically so you may well see a lot of christmas cards over the next couple of months!

For this card I've used one of those toppers and the paper is from my pile of loose sheets. I used snippets of card and a Tattered Lace die for the poinsettia and holly leaves, and the christmas ribbon and pearls are from my stash.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Lili of the Valley Monthly challenge 'Bingo' ribbon, pearls, flowers (my 3rd entry)
Winter Wonderland challenge 'Christmas couple'
Pixies Snippets Playground challenge 'week 115 use snippets'

Thanks for popping by today and I'll be back tomorrow with my Papercrafting Journey DT card.

Bill and Ben and Little Weeeed

Hello and a special welcome to my followers - both new and old. Your visits are a real delight and are most welcome.

You may be wondering about the title of my post today but those of a certain age may remember the 'Flowerpot Men' and 'Little Weeeeed'. Now I must point out that they actually hit the TV screens in 1952 (before my time) but I do remember as a small child watching some of the episodes. Anyway I couldn't help but name these 2 little kitties 'Bill' and 'Ben' and even  'little weeeed' has got in the picture too. This fabulous LOTV stamp is really called 'Pots of Love' which I coloured with Promarkers. The background paper is an A4 double sided sheet that was free with a magazine some time ago and the gems, pearls, flowers and ribbon are all from my stash.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Lili of the Valley challenge 'Bingo' (ribbon - pearls - flowers) (2nd entry)
Penny Black and More challenge 'So sweet' (2nd entry)

Road Trip

Hi everyone, hope you've all had a great weekend. It's been so warm and sunny here today so we went for a lovely walk round the nearby park this afternoon. The lake was absolutely teeming with swans, ducks and geese all having their fill of bread thrown to them by tiny (and not so tiny) hands. Just keeping my fingers crossed that this good weather continues.

This is a card I made last night using a Penny Black stamp from the 'Hello Friend' set which I coloured with Promarkers. I used paper from Pebbles Inc and the white card is embossed using a Die'sire Embossalicious 'birthday text' folder. The card candi and sentiment are from my stash.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Papertake Weekly challenge 'Anything goes' (my 5th entry)

Paper Chase GDT for Country View challenge

Good morning to you all and thanks for popping by. I was one of the Top 3 picks over at Country View January challenge and was asked to be a GDT, so of course I accepted. The theme for this months challenge is 'Paper Chase' and as it's their 1st blogaversary they are offering TWO prizes this month of a £20 voucher to Country View Crafts shop.

I decided to do something different and make a basket which would be ideal to hold a birthday or mother's day gift, or you could make a bunch of paper flowers to sit in it, but my favourite would be to fill it (to overflowing) with easter eggs.

Apologies for the quality of the photos - it was a dull day when they were taken - it looks so pretty IRL especially when the sun catches the flowers and gems.

The square part of the basket made from a 12x12 paper measures about 4 inch cubed and the flowers, butterflies and tags are all made using dies. Then all that was needed was a piece of lace, card candi and some gems from my stash to finish it off.

Here's what I used -
Papers ~                   Dovecraft, Hunkudory, plain white photocopier paper
Dies ~                       Cheery Lynn: large rose, medium rose, miniature rose, small exotic butterfly
                                 Memory Box: fancy blossoms
                                 Marianne Creatables: LR0154, LR0156
Punch ~                    Dovecraft: daisy
From my stash ~       lace, card candi, Papermania gems

So why not head over to the challenge, check out the rules and join in the fun

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Pixies Snippets Playground challenge 'week 114 use snippets' (3rd entry - the dies are all snippets)

Cake Glorious Cake

Good evening to you all and I hope you are all keeping well. We've had another sunny day here and with more hours of sunlight each day I'm beginning to feel more crafty again. Surprising how 'Mr Sunshine' can give you energy and cheer you up.

For this card I've used a stamp from LOTV called 'cake glorious cake' which I coloured with Promarkers.  I've used more of my loose paper sheets (so not sure who from) and I threaded some narrow ribbon through some lace which I think looks quite effective. Finally the flowers and pearls are from my stash.

Sweet and Sparkly Canary

Hi all, thanks for popping by. Not such a sunny day today but at least I got the chance to get a card made.

I coloured this Saturated Canary image with Promarkers and put it in a box where it's been lying for well over a year, so on a recent sort out I decided that I must use it for a card. I'm trying to make a pile of smaller cards to be sold for charity and this is one for that pile. The paper is from my scraps box,  the flower is made with Marianne dies and the sentiment, gems and ribbon are from my stash. Finally I added some Stickles in her hair for a bit more sparkle.
