More Snippet Strips

Hi everyone, well we may have our internet finally fixed. The engineer came out today to connect the replacement cable  so fingers crossed things are sorted.

The card I've got to show you today is following a sketch which is ideal for using up those leftover strips of paper. These snippets are from My Mind's Eye and Paper Cellar and the rose which I attached with sticky pads is from a sheet of Hunkydory diecuts. Again I finished it off with a silver peel-off sentiment and another snippet of paper on the inside edge.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Sketch Saturday challenge 'sketch'
Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge 'use snippets' (my 2nd entry)
That's Crafty challenge 'black, white & a splash' (my 2nd entry)
My Craft Creations challenge 'anything goes'

Thanks for taking the time to visit and for all the lovely comments you leave. I should be able to start catching up with you all again now.

Christmas Quickie

Hi everyone, just a quick post from me as our internet connection is very bad today.

This is one of my very quick christmas card makes with a stamp I got it in the £1 sale bin at Hobbycraft ages ago so thought it was about time to ink it up. It's a Papermania Urban stamp called 'Tulip Xmas - christmas cake' which I coloured with Promarkers and matted on to red metallic card and then on to a pearlescent card base. I made this for a couple of christmas card challenges Winter Wonderland challenge 'use no sentiment' and Craftyhazelnut's Christmas challenge 'festive food and/or drink'

Thanks for popping by and I hope you can pop back tomorrow when I have my Paper Crafting Journey DT card to show you.

Flutterby

Do you ever have one of those days when you just give up? We took my Dad on his weekly shopping trip this afternoon and he was not a happy man. He was having a good moan about having to pay tax on his works pension and that it's not worth being alive!! We'd just got him back home and his doorbell rang and there stood a nice fireman who said he could have smoke alarms 'free of charge' as he is 'old and vulnerable'. So while the other fireman was fitting 2 smoke alarms (under Dad's supervision of course) we were giving the necessary details. Okay his sight is not so perfect nor is his hearing and he can't run a marathon any more but he is 93 and totally with it mentally and would be able to react accordingly if there was a fire - so guess what happens next - yes, Dad starts playing the ancient befuddled geriatric who is on deaths door!!

Anyway enough of my waffle, here's my card. I used white linen card for the base and a snippet of Paper Cellar 'victorian classic' paper which I cut into 3 strips keeping the design in line. The butterfly is Hunkydory with Stickles added to the wings and placed on a Marianne LR0180 die circle. From my stash I added a pearl flourish and a peel-off sentiment. I think you can just about see the glittery wings in the photo.

I shall enter this in the following challenges ~

Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge 'sketch'
Papertake Weekly challenge 'White + one'
Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge 'use snippets'
Butterfly challenge 'Glamorous butterflies' (hope there's enough glitter)
CAS on Sunday challenge 'Sparkle and shimmer'
That Craft Place challenge 'Anything goes'
Crafty Catz challenge 'Anything goes' (my 3rd entry)

Thanks for dropping by and I'm sorry I've not been around to visit you so much recently but we still have limited internet. Just wish they'd hurry up and replace this cable.

Snowy Christmas

Hi everyone, hope you're having a good weekend. I intended finishing off two cards I started last night but ended up making four others instead.

Here are two of them and these were very quick makes. I used some leftover pieces of silver mirricard, LOTV toppers (no longer available) and LOTV christmas grungy message stamps. The sentiments are the titles of two christmas songs which were my inspiration. I had a job taking any decent photos because of the mirricard and finally settled for this one, and although the silver looks more grey there at least aren't any reflections in it.

I shall enter these in the following challenges ~

Sparkles Christmas challenge 'Inspired by christmas carol / song' (Let It Snow / White Christmas)
Christmas Fun challenge 'Christmas card for a man / anything goes)
ABC Christmas challenge 'H is for Home'
Dream Valley challenge 'Say it with words'
Crafty Catz challenge 'Anything goes' (my 2nd entry)

Thanks for popping by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Holly Jolly Christmas

Happy Rudolph Day to you all.
I have my 2 christmas cards already made using the fabulous Makey Bakey Mice 'Holly Jolly Christmas' stamp that I won last month - Thank you so much Sarn. I coloured them with Promarkers and used leftover snippets of paper and gold peel-off sentiments on the fronts. I also used some snippets of paper to finish off the inside. These 2 are going in the fundraising pile but I will definitely be making more to send myself using this stamp.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Rudolph Day challenge 'make at least 2 christmas creations'
Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge 'use snippets'
Crafty Catz challenge 'anything goes'

Thanks for popping by and I hope you enjoy the weekend.

Easel card with Rick St Dennis at the PCJ challenge

Afternoon folks. I'm running rather late today with this post for the new Paper Crafting Journey challenge, but better late than never. This time we'd like you to make an easel card and we are sponsored by the fabulous Rick St Dennis who is offering the lucky winner 3 digis of their choice.

The DT were lucky enough to be able to pick a digi to work with and I just had to have this gorgous little chap called 'high flyin mouse' which I coloured with Promarkers. I kept this CAS, using Lifestyle QuicKutz nesting dies to cut the card base and layers and adding a computer generated sentiment.

I shall enter this in the following challenges ~
Without Words challenge 'Gentlemen only' (my 3rd entry)
Crafty Little Fairies challenge 'Furry friends'
Divas By Design challenge 'Let's go to the movies' Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines'

Hello and thanks for popping by. I hope you all had a wonderful easter and managed a choccie egg or two.

So just a quick post with a card I made yesterday. I've used LOTV 'teddy flower' which is coloured with my usual Promarkers, the paper is Raspberry Road Designs 'summer goodness' and the ribbon, flowers and sentiment are from my stash.

Birthday Cat

Hi everyone, hope you're enjoying the easter break. Parcel Force arrived bright and early this morning with our new router so we're wireless again which is great because I can now use my printer without having to load all the software to connect it with a USB wire. Bad news is we still have intermittent internet because of the line fault. The engineers were out on Thursday and it seems that about 50 metres of cable will have to be replaced which also means digging holes so it will be at least a couple of weeks before it's sorted.

Anyway, enough of my ramblings, here is a card I made this afternoon. I was looking at the themes of a few challenges - cats or dogs, a sketch, b + w with a splash, use greys, birthday and male - and thought they would work well together and this is the result. The cat stamp is Penny Black from the 'hello friend' collection coloured with Promarkers, the paper is My Mind's Eye 'lost and found' and the peel-off sentiment and card candi is from my stash.

I shall enter this in the following challenges ~
Penny Black Saturday challenge 'Cats and dogs'

Sweet as a Peach

Happy easter everyone. Hope you're all having a nice start to the bank holiday weekend and enjoying the gorgous weather (those of you in the UK)

For a change I thought I would make a baby card and rather than use pink I decided on peach. The image is Saturated Canary 'butterfly baby' coloured with Promarkers and matted onto a crochet edged circle. The gingham paper is My Mind's Eye 'lost and found' and the other is from my loose sheets so not sure where from. I used Memory Box 'twirling vine frame' die and for the flowers Cheery Lynn large, medium and miniature rose dies and a daisy punch. The pearls, lace and ribbon are all from my stash and the sentiment stamp was a magazine freebie.

I shall enter this in the following challenges ~
Sketch N Stash challenge 'Sketch' (the peach ribbon is definitely neglected)
Divas By Design challenge 'Bundle of joy'
Crafty Catz challenge 'B is for...' (baby, bow)
Creative Inspiration challenge 'Lots of layers'
Country View challenges 'New beginnings'
Crafty Cardmakers challenge 'Handmade flowers'
Fussy and Fancy challenge 'Pearls and lace'

Thanks for popping by and for all your lovely comments.

Birthday Fun

Hello to you all, hope you're keeping well and looking forward to the easter weekend. I'm keeping fingers crossed that the easter bunny may bring me a choccie egg but not very hopeful - probably have to take myself off to the supermarket instead!

I've made another quick and easy birthday card today using a LOTV topper. I used a Die'sire Embossalicious folder to emboss the card and die-cut the stars with Xcut dies. The silver peel-offs and ribbon are from my stash. It was pretty hard to photo but you can just about see the embossed background.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Lili of the Valley Monthly challenge '10th birthday card' (my 3rd entry)
The Ribbon Girl challenge 'Anything goes with lovely Lili' (my 2nd entry)
Natalie and Amy challenge 'Embossing'

Thanks for popping by and a happy easter to you all.

Red and Pink number two

Hi everyone, thanks for popping by.

Well after speaking to a very nice man from Sky it seems we have a fault on the BT line (although we don't have any problems making or receiving phone calls - which is a bit strange) so they have booked the engineers to come and fix it. Also they are sending us the newest model of wireless router free of charge AND we now have a freephone number to contact them. Unfortunately this is going to take 3-5 working days which brings us up to and past the easter weekend and our internet connection is intermittent so apologies if I don't get to visit much over the next few days.

Anyways on to the card I made this morning. After trying a new colour combo of red and pink the other day I was so pleased with the result that I had to give it another go. So out came some more of the same red paper from My Minds Eye and the pink is from Hunkydory as are the butterfly and topper. I followed a sketch (but used an oval instead of a circle) then I just added some gems from my stash. I really am loving this colour combo and it looks better IRL than in the photo.

I shall enter this in the following challenges ~
Creative Inspirations challenge 'Only red + pink' (my 2nd entry)
Sketch Saturday challenge 'Sketch'
The ABC challenge 'J is for Just as you like it'
My Craft Creations challenge 'Anything goes'
Sparkles Monthly challenge 'Favourite colour combo'

3 Little Teds

Hi everyone, thanks for dropping by on yet another sunny day.
Since O2 sold their broadband off to Sky we've had a few occasions when the internet drops off but last night the wireless router has decided it won't be wireless anymore and so I'm having to use an ethernet cable which at the moment is wrapped round my feet! Guess it's going to be a costly phone call to get the problem fixed but in the meantime it means taking turns using the ethernet cable with hubby and also reconnecting the printer using a USB cable. Don't you just love technology!!

Anyways enough of my ramblings, here's my card for today. For this I have used an adorable stamp from LOTV called 'posy trio' which I coloured with Promarkers and cut out with an Xcut nesting die. I stamped twice so the I could decoupage the bits of the image that are outsde the circles and I used chalks to colour the sky. The papers are WRS 'butterfly garden' and the gems, ribbon bow and silver peel-off sentiment are from my stash.

I shall enter this in the following challenges ~
Lili of the Valley challenge '10th birthday card' (my 2nd entry)
The Ribbon Girl challenge 'Lovely Lili + anything goes'
Allsorts challenge 'Spring blossoms'
That's Crafty challenge 'You spin me right round' (my 2nd entry)

Stamping Sensations challenge 'Use those dies and/or punches'
Whimsy Stamps challenge 'Anything goes'
Penny Black and More challenge 'Blossoms and blooms'
The Corrosive challenge 'Pretty pastels'
Sweet Stampin' challenge 'Flowers'

Right I'm off to unravel myself from all these cables and have a nice cuppa tea.

Pink and square christmas

Another lovely sunny day here, hope it's the same wherever you are. Hubby is under strict instructions NOT to wash the car - we don't want to tempt fate, do we!

I've been having a quick play with the snippets box this morning and made another christmas card. I used pearlescent card for the small square base and also to die-cut a Marianne Creatables LR0129 doiley. The paper is a leftover bit from my scraps box and the lovely little bunny is one of my pile of LOTV toppers. Then I just added a sentiment and pearls from my stash to finish off.

I shall enter this in the following challenges ~
Winter Wonderland challenge 'I'm dreaming of a pink christmas'
Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge 'week 120 use snippets'
CRAFT challenge 'Christmas'

Springtime Fun

Good evening and thanks for popping by. What a fabulous sunny and warm day it's been today and the good news is it's set to continue (fingers crossed) over the weekend.

There are quite a few spring theme challenges around at the moment and I also saw one for 'April showers bring May flowers' which immediately brought to mind this decoupage I have. It's a House Mouse from the 'spring is mice' collection and the little meecies look like they're having so much fun 'showering' with the lovely spring crocuses around them. The paper is Dovecraft 'back to basics' and the spotty one is from my scraps box. I used Memory Box 'fairytale flower border' die and added some flowers and ribbon from my stash. Finally, the sentiment is from a Hobby House card kit.

I shall enter this in the following challenges ~
Oldie But A Goodie challenge 'April showers bring May flowers' (everything on this is over 6 months old)

I decided to have a bit of a play this afternoon and got out the snippets box. This is another small card (5.25 x 4 inch) and the snippets of papers I've used are from Prima and My Minds Eye. For that special lady at PCJ

Hi everyone. Today sees the start of the new challenge over at the Paper Crafting Journey and we are sponsored by the fabulous The Paper Shelter who are offering the lucky winner an amazing $20 voucher to spend in their store. The theme this fortnight is 'for that special lady' so we would love to see your paper craft creations for a special lady or maybe even your mothers day cards for those of you who celebrate later than we do here in the UK.

For my creation I decided to make a box for a special little lady which can hold a gift and then be used as a little treasure / jewelry box. I used this fabulous pre-coloured image from The Paper Shelter called 'Spring Princess' which I have to admit is one of my favourites and I printed it off a couple of times so that I could decoupage it. The papers are Dovecraft 'Princess Fairytale', the organza rose trim is from Wild Orchid Crafts and the pink gems are from my stash.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Wild Orchid Crafts challenge 'Bling it up'
Rhedd and Rosie challenge 'Anything goes'
Craft My Life All Crafts challenge 'Anything goes but no cards' (2nd entry)

Thanks for popping by and I do hope you can join us at the PCJ challenge.

Birthday Penguin

Here we are on yet another sunny day, fingers crossed it stays like this for the rest of the week.

My card today is one I made some time ago but never got around to blogging. It was one I was asked to make and it had to be fun and have a penguin on it. This penguin is a digi from Just Some Lines which I coloured with promarkers. I printed the hat, party blower and beak a couple of times more for decoupage, added some paper curls to his hat and then hand cut a balloon, tied a bit of wool, and attached it all to the base card which I'd first embossed with a Die'sire embossalicious 'grande dots' folder. The sentiment is hand-written with a sparkly gel pen.

I shall enter this in the following challenges ~
Simon Says Wednesday challenge 'Happy birthday' (my 3rd entry)
The Crafty Bloggers Network challenge 'Die cuts or embossing' (my 2nd entry)
Without Words challenge 'Gentlemen only'

So that's it from me today and I shall be here tomorrow with my DT creation for the Paper Crafting Journey if you'd care to pop back.

The chicken came before the egg

What on earth is she on about I can hear you asking yourselves.

Some of you may remember my Dad making me a knitted snowman, well my snowman now has a little chicken friend.... and still no sign of an easter egg even though I keep hinting every time we go shopping. I think a Humpty Dumpty may be making an appearance soon though as Dad is getting fed up of making chickens, rabbits, etc etc.

So here's a photo of the happy little chappie. He was a bit shy of the camera at first because of the loose feathers (commonly known as a wool knot that just won't disappear) sticking out of his head and also his bloodshot eyes !!  He may not be a perfect little chick but seeing as Dad is 93 I feel enormously lucky to have him at all.

and here's another photo of the two playmates together

I shall enter this in the following challenges on his behalf ~

Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge  'week 119 use snippets'  2nd entry (he's definitely snippetted with joined up wool and felt)

Happy Bee-day

Hi everyone. I've managed a bit of crafty time again today and after finding a pile of small size envelopes I cut some white cardstock to make cards approx 4 x 5.25 inches to fit. I thought these would be ideal to give to charity fundraising events so I need to make a good variety and decided to kick things off with a CAS birthday card for a male.

The stamp is WRS called 'bees with cupcake' which I coloured with Promarkers and I used chalks to lightly colour the sky background (but it doesn't show up very well in the photo). I used some scraps of brown card to mount the image and die-cut a star to which I added a peel-off sentiment.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Magnolia-licious challenge 'Boys & guys'
Papertake Weekly challenge 'Anything goes - option easter treat holder' (my 2nd entry)

I intend to put my feet up this evening and watch 'The Hobbit' part 1 dvd to remind myself of the storyline before I go and buy part 2 tomorrow. Now when I opened the dvd case I found I still had the code to download the movie for free (UK only) which is valid until 8 April 2015. I will never need this so if there are any of my UK followers who would like this (for your own use only) please leave me a message to let me know if you'd like it and I'll pass it on to one of you.

Another Chocolate Anyone?

Hi everyone. Sorry I've not been around visiting for a few days but I've been so busy and had no time at all for crafting and very little time for switching on the laptop. Don't you just hate it when everyday things get in the way of crafty time!! - anyway I've managed to get a card made today.

Now I like mice and think they are actually such cute little creatures as shown in this fabulous decoupage which is from the House Mouse 'Fruit and Nut' collection. The spotty paper is one of my loose sheets, the flowers are cut from another sheet of paper and the sentiment is recycled from an old card.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
