CAS Snippets for Christmas

Hi everyone, I've been having problems with neck and backache and not able to sit at the computer for very long so this is a quick post with a card I made using one of the new Memory Box dies and snippets of gold and white card.

I used a Die'sire petite dots embossing folder at an angle on the white card and the sentiment is from Artful Stamps. The MB die is 'Poinsettia Ribbon' with an extra set of petals to layer it up and finished with a few pearls.

and here's a closer look at the MB die

I've made this card for the following challenges

Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge 'use snippets'
Rudolph Days challenge 'christmas'
Less Is More challenge 'recipe - use snippets'

Fun-Day Friday challenge 'sketch'

Thanks for taking the time to pop by today. I'm sorry I haven't been leaving any comments on your posts but I have been making quick visits around your blogs when my back allows it and hopefully all will be better soon.

Life's A Beach

....Which is the theme for this weeks challenge at Less Is More and when looking through some of my Joanna Sheen CDs the other day I found this image which I think sums it up perfectly. The cd is the 'Faye Whittaker collection' and has some of the most wonderful images of childhood days. I layered the image onto yellow card and added a Clearly Besotted sentiment. Quick, CAS and I even resisted the urge to add any embellishments.

House Mouse and Friend

At times I feel like I'm beginning to drown under a large pile of unused or little used crafty stash so the other day I got out some cds and printed off a pile of images that I hopefully will turn into cards.

This image is from my fabulous but underused (hang my head in shame) Joanna Sheen 'House Mouse triple cd collection' which has the most adorable images and I would definitely recommend to any House Mouse fan. I used a Memory Box 'piestra tile border' die-cut from linen card then layered up onto yellow card to give the idea of sunshine and to finish off I used a gold peel-off sentiment.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

House Mouse & Friends Monday challenge 'house mouse and a friend'

Butterfly and T...

Hi to you all, hope you've had a good weekend. Instead of housework (which will still be there tomorrow) I decided to have a crafty play and made a card which is a bit different from my normal style.

For her challenge Mrs A has given us T for talisman to go along with the butterfly this fortnight and this includes (after checking with her) any charm. I also wanted to combine some other challenges - floral and lots of pink, add a banner or flag, and also a sketch. The paper is a piece I printed off a year or so ago and never got around to using and at a guess I would think it's from one of my Joanna Sheen cds. I used a Clearly Besotted stamp for the sentiment, a Memory Box die for the foliage and snippets of paper to hand cut the banners. The flowers, charm, gems, ribbon and Hunkydory butterfly are from my stash.

I shall enter this in the following challenges ~

Less is More for a Male

I'm doing my best to join in more challenges over at Less Is More and this week it's the one layer week. Now I usually avoid one layer as I'm not very good at it but I was determined to have a go this time.

My image is LOTV which I coloured with Promarkers and the sentiment is from a Crafter's Companion stamp set that was a recent magazine freebie. I'm actually sitting here a bit lost and thinking the card isn't finished and that I should be adding some embellishments!!

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Less is More challenge 'one layer masculine'
Creative Inspirations challenge 'let's colour'
Penny Black and More challenge 'add a sentiment'
Without Words challenge 'blue + brown'

Christmas Star Box

I've been having a play with another of the shaped kraft boxes I bought from Hobbycraft last year - this time a star which I decorated to hold a christmas gift.

The star on the lid was cut with a nesting die from some paper I've had for an age so not sure who by and I also added a strip to the box side. Then I added a string of pearls around the edge of the paper and to decorate the lid a couple of Tattered Lace snowflake dies and a Poppystamps tag die stamped with a clearly Besotted sentiment.

Hello Gorgous

Well we certainly have a change in the weather today but at least the garden won't need watering up. While I was watching the mens Wimbledon final yesterday I sat playing around with a few leftover snippets and put together a card which I must admit I don't really like. But as tastes differ from person to person I'm hoping this will be okay to put into the fundraising pile.

The image is an old LOTV called 'hello gorgous' which I coloured with Promarkers. I had a piece of pearlescent card which I used for the base and the paper is Dovecraft 'back to basics 3' To embellish I used ribbon. gems, brad and flowers from my stash along with a Memory Box 'elegant scrollwork' die cut.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge 'use snippets' (paper, ribbons and card)

Afternoon Tea in the Garden

Definitely not the weather for that today, and this is just a quick post while play (Wimbledon) has been suspended due to the rain.

This is a very quick and easy make using oval nesting dies to cut the LOTV art pad image and also the centre from a piece of white linen card. I trimmed the corners with a corner punch and used sticky pads to attach the linen card and image to the base card which I'd also corner punched. The flowers are from a Hunkydory die-cut sheet, the butterflies were cut with a recent challenge win from All Occasion Dies and the gems are from my stash. I added a gold peel-off sentiment to finish.

I'm not sure why but it was hard to photo and doesn't show the linen effect on the white card

just adding another photo from a different angle

Red, White and Blue

This is definitely a colour combo I have never liked but I really want to make an effort to join in with the Less is More challenges this month as well as using my (many) dies a lot more. So here'e my card and actually I'm quite pleased with it although I still haven't been converted to the colour combo!

It took minutes to put together but an absolute age moving bits and bobs around on the base card and the pieces of red and blue card kept decreasing in size as it went along! Also the choice of Memory Box die kept changing and I finally settled on my old and well used 'Chloe Stem'. The opposite corners of the base card and coloured card were cut with a Dovecraft corner punch and I added some pearls to finish. The pearls are perfect matches to the coloured cards but the light just caught the red ones making them look a bit pinky in the photo.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Less Is More challenge 'red, white and blue'
Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge 'use snippets' ~ snippets for the dies
Memory Box challenge 'red, white and blue'
Frosted Designs Friday challenge 'red, white and blue with a twist' ~ old die, new pearls & coloured card

Chocolates

Hi everyone, hope you're having a good weekend. We had one heck of a thunderstorm in the night but it's warm and sunny again now.

Years ago I downloaded a freebie chocolates decoupage sheet from here and never got around to using it but when I saw the challenge theme of 'a friend with chocolate' at Words 2 Scrap By I thought this would be perfect. I teamed it up with some paper which is a very old magazine freebie so I'm also entering it in the Mod Squad challenge 'use pattern paper'

I must admit that I think it would have looked much better CAS without papers and with thicker sticky pads under the decoupage to give it more depth - so will have to try that some time.

Well I guess it's time for a little siesta out in the garden now. Thanks for dropping by and for all your lovely comments

Christmas List

Well wasn't Wednesday a scorcher here in the UK and I persuaded hubby we should invest in a Dyson fan which arrived yesterday. It was bought direct from Dyson with free next day delivery and at a discounted price of a penny short of GASP £270 (instead of £319.99) - so we'll just have to see how it compares to the £30 standard fan we bought on Tuesday.

I'm popping along today with a christmas card made with a Joanna Sheen Giordano decoupage sheet. I love this image and decided it needed no embellishing so just placed it on a white linen card base with a recycled sentiment.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas challenge 'two words'
